Alap Balkrishna Patel, CFA®, CFP®

Wealth Management Advisor

Al started at Northwestern Mutual-Chicago in 2006, shortly after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005. Nothing drives Al more than his family- his amazing wife, Amanda, wonderful son, Arron, and loving dog, Ace.

In February of 2012, Amanda was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called FSGS. Since then, both Al and Amanda have worked as volunteers with Nephcure Kidney International to help raise money and awareness for rare kidney diseases, as well as the research to end them. He also serves as a mentor for the Wood Family Foundation, which provides support and opportunities to empower students to succeed through collaborative relationships between mentors, students, and the students' families.

Outside of the office, Al is an avid bowler and traveler. Some of his favorite trips include Korea, a safari in East Africa, the Galapagos Islands, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, the Maldives, London, Italy, and Spain. He is also huge sports fan, especially the Chiacgo Cubs. One of his greatest moments in his life was witnessing game 7 of the World Series in Cleveland. He is also proud to have been given the opportunity to throw the first pitch at Wrigely Field, twice!
